Some Highlights of Museum van Bommel van Dam

"Onbegrensd – Giselle Kuster"

This spring, the Van Bommel van Dam museum will take you on a journey through the fascinating life story and versatile work of the unjustly forgotten artist and cultural entrepreneur Giselle Kuster (Venlo, 1911 - Heerlen, 1972). With the exhibition Onbegrensd - Het leven & werk van Giselle Kuster, the museum plays a driving role in the revaluation of a progressive female artist. In addition to works from the museum collection, the presentation includes 'missing' paintings and designs that were tracked down through a call to people at home. In the exhibition, you will also marvel at art by famous contemporaries and sources of inspiration such as Charley Toorop , Jan Sluijters and Otto van Rees . Curator James Hannan: "In art dealers in the 1940s and 1950s, her paintings hung next to those of Toorop and Bart van der Leck and her work went over the counter for the same price as that of Sluijters. Kuster has so far been unjustly underexposed."
