🏗️ Architectural Highlights
- Industrial Origins: The museum occupies an 8,000 square meter (approximately 86,000 square feet) former welding warehouse, originally part of the NDSM shipyard. This space once facilitated the assembly of massive ship components, a history still evident in the preserved production crane and rail tracks running through the buildingÂ
- Design and Layout: Embracing its industrial roots, the museum's open-plan design features high ceilings reaching up to 25 meters, allowing for the display of towering artworks. The interior is thoughtfully organized into "streets," "squares," and "intersections," mirroring an urban environment and enhancing the street art experienceÂ
The STRAAT Museum's architecture not only preserves the industrial legacy of its setting but also enhances the presentation of street art, creating an immersive environment that celebrates the genre's dynamic and urban essence.
Enkele hoogtepunten van Straat Museum Amsterdam

Lack of Sense of Emergency (2016)
Lack of sense of emergency is based on a photo of a Syrian child taken by David Gross. In using a red light, Alaniz emphasizes how our distracted society fails to recognize the sense of emergency of such situations. “I paint about what moves me, and, as a migrant myself, I feel moved by the refugee crisis. I grew up in the ghettos of Buenos Aires and the social injustices that I experienced formed my social interest.” / Alaniz

Let me be Myself (2016)
The portrait, which is titled Let me be myself, points out the importance of fully respecting each and every one’s identity. It’s a continuation of recurring themes for Kobra, such as world peace, interconnectedness and mutual understanding. More than 450 spraycans and 35 liters of lacquer paint were used to realize this artwork. “To this day, her story makes for deep reflection, while simultaneously inspiring several youngsters through the courage and wisdom of this young woman.” / Eduardo Kobra

Red Riding Hood (2016)
Insane 51 is mostly known for his 3D, an art form known as “Double Exposure 3D”. His specialization combines photorealism and overlaying images. By overlapping two images - one in red and one in cyan - he creates a three-dimensional illusionary effect. To get a clear view of the two layers, people use 3D glasses, digital color filters or his characteristic glasses installations.
